Fun Fact Time – “Nusa” means island in Indonesian! And our little Nusa Lembongan is part of the three stunning sister islands along with Nusa Ceningan & Nusa Penida with no shortage of memorable life experiences to keep the senses activated. Situated just a 30 minute boat ride off the mainland of Bali, the Nusas are strategically situated on the beautiful Coral Triangle with crystal clear turquoise seas full of marine life. While Nusa Lembongan & Nusa Cenengan are connected by the famous Yellow Bridge, Nusa Penida is easily accessible by a short and easy boat ride from the Yellow Bridge. So while you are staying with us at Batu Karang Lembongan Resort & Spa, we are located perfectly central to access the beautiful sites (& also an ideal spot with good wifi to share your photos & places to charge your cameras!) there is plenty to keep both the adventurers and those who want to kick back and relax holiday-goers happy. Here are a few of our favorites:
1. Nusa Ceningan – Secret Point & Blue Lagoon
Right around the corner from one another, these two spots you will find fifty shades of sea blue. Naturally saturated with hues bright enough to wear polarized sunglasses, these spots do not disappoint. From Mahana Point cliff jumping, a good spot to watch the surfers & have a cold drink after taking a stroll around the rocks at the Blue Lagoon. Prepare to “ooooh” and “ahhhh!”
2. Nusa Penida – Kelingking & Angel’s Billabong / Broken Beach
Where nature has curated some unique formations, these wonders will be sure to take your breath away when catching your first glimpse. Located on the North-West side of the island, with their authentically rugged roads, you will experience Bali as it used to be decades ago. The remoteness forces everyone to disconnect from technology and connect with the present, these sights are truly unforgettable.
3. Nusa Penida – Atuh Beach / Diamond Beach
Located on the South East side of Nusa Penida taking the beautiful new Coast Road, Atuh Beach is another masterpiece of nature. The vibrant colors, dramatic cliffs, crystal clear water, sandy beaches, massive rock formations, and remoteness means this spot is off the beaten track with the ability to enjoy its authenticity. Dip in the sea & cool off, make sure you bring whatever you need to capture the memories forever.
4. Nusa Penida – Goa Giri Putri Cave Temple
A unique underground cave temple, with both Buddhist and Balinese Hindu temples inside. A requirement to dress in a sarong & crawl through the cave hole entrance way to open up to a sensational cave filled with spiritual magic. Watch the rituals & listen to the music, a humbling and provocative experience. Exit through the Chinese Buddhist temple and potentially have a blessing ceremony with the high priest. It is spectacular.
5. Nusa Lembongan – Dream Beach & Devil’s Tears
The original famous sights putting Nusa Lembongan on the tourist map, these are located side by side. A beautiful white sand beach with local warungs & cafes, a great place to catch some sun and take a dip. Only a short walking distance away is Devil’s Tears where the waves come crashing in to a rock face formation and create a stunning and impressive mist. Prepare your cameras and take caution watching the beauty & power of nature.
6. Nusa Lembongan – Surfing
Famous for its world-class breaks surfing the crystal clear turquoise blue water, surfing is how Lembongan found its way as a destination many years ago originally having to travel 4 hours on a local Jukung boat! Now easily accessible by fast boat, the breaks are ready for both local and international surfers. Right at the doorstep of Batu Karang where guests can surf-check right from their room balcony, guests can see Playgrounds, Lacerations, Muntigs, Razors, & far off in the distance, Shipwrecks. A brief walk down the boardwalk to the beach if the access to paddle out or hire a boat, catching waves has never been more scenic!
7. 3 Nusas – Diving & Snorkeling
Located on the Coral Triangle, the Nusas are known for the incredible scuba diving and snorkeling. The strong currents allow for the magnificent clear water, abundance of marine life, & live colorful corals. Colour palettes could have been created from these underwater hues, with endless visibility. Home to manta rays, mola mola (sunfish), the occasional shark if you are lucky enough to see one, turtles, many tropical fish….and even the rare spotting of a whale shark! An experience in a whole new world, enjoy the freedom amongst the under sea life.

8. Nusa Lembongan – Beach Cafe / Bar Hopping
With all of the beautiful places to visit, we can’t forget to mention some of our favorite bars & cafes. From our very own The Deck Cafe & Bar, offering a laid-back & stylish atmosphere playing cool house tunes, this is the perfect social media-friendly spot to watch the world go by and chill out. If a fine whisky, gin, or carefully crafted cocktail is more up your alley, then a must-visit of the list is The Howff Whisky Gin, & Wine Bar. A true Scottish speakeasy with the Lembongan view, there is nowhere like it. A sunset or nightcap is essential for your island time. And of course there are several other selected bars & restaurants around the island each offering something unique, recommendations available on the Batu Karang in-house guest channel.
9. 3 Nusas – Scooter Touring
This is the best way to conveniently explore the islands, with most sights accessible by scooter. The Batu Karang Team is happy to tailor some island sights to explore with a map for our guests to explore. Drive through the Mangrove Forest, cross the Yellow Bridge, find your way to some “Secret Beaches,” or even the next coffee / cocktail / Bintang stop! Travel at your own pace and do as the locals do.
