Behind Our Scenes: Meet Arya

We are so proud to introduce this long-standing member of the Batu Karang Lembongan Resort & Day Spa family, Arya Astika. Seven years ago Arya joined as a Manager on Duty coming with a strong background in Housekeeping and Front Office Operations. With his diligent, loyal, and strong work ethic, Arya has worked his way up to Assistant Manager, now to Rooms Division Manager, and  watching his progression is truly remarkable. Arya carries a tremendous amount of responsibility on-site, with a presence commanding respect balanced with fostering a friendly and family-style work environment – a challenging and delicate balance to achieve. In addition to his life at Batu Karang, Arya also finds the time to run his own local tour company with his brothers, among six other small business ventures! Coming from a large family of seven siblings, Arya is the second youngest and well supported by the rest of his family, also with a wife, a daughter, and a soon-to-be family member. With his hands so full with family responsibilities, what does he enjoy so much about working at Batu Karang? Arya didn’t have the chance to attend university, so he says that the education he is receiving at work is just as good, if not better than studying for a degree. He is always being sent to professional development courses to help him grow, and he thrives on being challenged with new ideas, policies, procedures, guest, and team issues. His most memorable and funny challenge was when one of the villas caught a small fire, and the staff forgot how to operate the water pump, and instead threw it in the plunge pool! Arya then became in charge of the responsibility of conducting regular fire training to ensure all staff are educated on fire safety and aware of how to use all of the equipment to keep the guests, Batu Karang, and Nusa Lembongan safe! Arya would like to retire in the next five years and devote his life to his family and love of surfing, however until then, we are happy to keep him busy, and appreciated at Batu Karang Lembongan Resort & Day Spa.
